Every Woman Can
Learn to protect yourself at this presentation covering awareness and prevention, the pros and cons of pepper spray, how to use household items as improvised weapons and how to defend yourself with a cane called "Cane Fu."
Includes a demonstration of 25 simple techniques to defend against those attacks most likely to occur in an assault situation: wrist grabs, chokes, holds, bear hugs, head locks, hair pulls and how to fight from the ground. Whatever your age or physical ability, these techniques are simple to learn, easy to remember, yet effective enough to incapacitate an attacker.
Leave this class feeling empowered, knowing that your best weapon against assault is your own body. This class is suitable for ages 11+, (only because younger children may get bored with the lecture portion.) Girls 16-25 are the most victimized. Men also can benefit from this class, as they are more often the victims of violent crime and may need to defend their families.
Leave this presentation feeling empowered, knowing that your best weapon against assault is your own body.
About the instructor, Gale Bryan
Gale began her self-defense training in 1985. After three years of training and reading more than 35 books on rape and prevention, she felt compelled to teach her own class because the statistics were so alarming. In 1988 she taught her first class at Riverside Community College and has continued teaching at high schools, colleges, community centers, churches, senior communities, clubs, and family groups. Her mission is to prevent as many people as possible from experiencing the trauma of rape. She has personally trained over 1100 women, children, and seniors in pursuing that goal. The Unity Center appreciates Gale's commitment and is pleased to welcome her back.
