The Unity Center in San Diego, California, is a progressive spiritual community that emphasizes personal growth, living consciously and making a positive difference in the world. As part of New Thought and the worldwide Unity movement, we are a vibrant, open, and affirming community that includes people of all races, religious backgrounds, sexual orientations and gender identities. We invite you to come check us out in person or online any Sunday.

The Unity Center in San Diego, California, is a member of the worldwide Unity movement founded in the late 1800’s by Charles and Myrtle Fillmore and part of the broader New Thought Movement. With churches and spiritual centers around the world, on-line courses, and a complete publishing house in addition to its 24-hour prayer support offer by Silent Unity, the Unity movement offers millions of people a positive path for spiritual living.

Though our roots are in Christianity, Unity draws heavily upon the universal wisdom found at the heart of all the world’s religions and offers a spiritually progressive, socially responsive and radically inclusive approach to the traditional Christian faith that is as practical as it is mystical. As a result, Unity is a truly welcoming place for those who consider themselves “spiritual, but not religious.”

Many who have given up on traditional church and organized religion but haven't given up on their faith or their spiritual growth, find exactly what they are looking for in Unity.

What we believe and practice

God is the Source and Creator of all; everywhere present as the force of love and wisdom that underlies all of existence.

The Nature of God…

We are spiritual beings, created in God’s image. Human beings are divine at their core and therefore inherently good.

Our Nature…

Prayer and meditation keep us aligned with God—the one great power in the universe.

Prayer and Meditation…

We create our life experiences through our dominant ways of thinking and feeling. Thought is formative.

Consciousness…

Knowledge of these spiritual principles is not enough. We must live the Truth we know in our daily lives.

Living Consciously…

and on a more serious note

Affectionately called "The Rev" by her spiritual community, Wendy Craig-Purcell has been a force in the effort toward global change for more than 40 years. Her personal mission to “teach everyday spiritual wisdom for conscious living and global transformation” inspires and informs all her work.

A graduate of the Unity School of Christianity, Wendy was ordained as a Unity minister in 1980. Just a few years later, she founded The Unity Center, a spiritual community located in San Diego, California where she currently serves as CEO and Spiritual Leader. With only a handful of people attending those first gatherings in 1980, The Unity Center and its teachings now reach more than 12,000 members and friends worldwide.
